Summary : Jensen takes Jared to a romantic dinner at Chris Kane’s new restaurant Kane’s and then asks him to marry him by singing the lyrics to Cyndi Lauper’s Le Vie En Rose to him. Jared says Yes of course.

Jensen fiddles nervously with his tie not able to get the knot just right when Jared walks up behind him and reaches around his shoulder tying the knot effortlessly before kissing him on the temple. “Why so nervous Nelly?” Jared chuckles into Jensen’s ear before turning away to grab his suit jacket and help him on with it.
“I just hate the opening nights at restaurants. I know its Christian’s new place and all but still everyone is out and the paparazzi are in full camera mode.” He sighs as he brushes lint from his jacket shoulder and straightens it before buttoning it up.
“Hey no worries Jen, it will all be fine. Now that we’re out and our fans all know we’re a couple they have nothing to catch us doing that’s remotely scandalous.” He pulls on his suit coat and messes with his hair tucking the long sides behind his ear. Jensen walks up behind him lifting up to kiss his cheek as he runs his fingers through the tucked hair and down to his neck. “Have I told you how much I love you lately?” He says smiling at him in the mirror. Jared touches his hand still on his shoulder entwining their fingers slightly and smiles at his reflection. “Every minute of every day.” He pulls Jensen’s hand to his lips and kisses the tips gently before releasing it.
“Ready sweetie?” Jared asks as he finishes messing with his hair. “Not just yet babe. You go down and I’ll be there in a second, I have to pee.” Jensen says walking into the bathroom. “Okie dokie smokie. I’ll be waiting.” Jared says heading downstairs.
Jensen looks out the bedroom door before sneaking over to the dresser drawer and pulling out a small black box. He opens the lid revealing a thick silver band, pulling it out he checks the inscription on the inside of the band. Forever yours, Jen. He pushes the ring back into the box and slips it into his pants pocket before following Jared down.

The black limo drops them off at the front door, a red carpet laid out in Oscar runway style with velvet ropes holding the paparazzi at bay as the camera’s flash relentlessly at the two men walking up the carpet holding hands. Jared stops half way up and puts a kiss to Jensen’s cheek the crowd cheering as the camera’s flash dizzyingly blinding them. Jensen blushes his smile timid and cheeks bright red as he slings his arm around Jared’s waist nudging him forward.

Christian is waiting inside at the reservations desk to greet his guests, a nervous smile on his face as he watches the spectacle on the carpet.
The heavy glass door with the bold red word Kane’s embossed on them open and Jared struts in with Jensen on his arm. “Hon it was nothing, don’t get all upset over it, they loved it.” Jensen’s face was as red as the carpet as he shook Christian’s hand. “Hey Chris, nice turn out.” Jensen looks around at the full tables just inside the dining room. Christian sighs. “Yeah can’t wait for tonight to be over and things to start being normal tomorrow.” He rolls his eyes and tugs at his tuxedo jacket. “Nancy will show you to your table guys, enjoy.”

The hostess leads the boys to a table near the stage where a guitar player and a cellist are softly playing music.
Jensen reads over the menu as Jared watches the other people talking and laughing at their tables. “Seems like a really nice turn out. I hope Christian’s food is as good as his atmosphere.” Jared says glancing at the wine list.

“I’m sure it is he hired that Chef everyone is raving about Chad Murray.” Jensen says putting down the menu and shifting his attention to the wine list too.

“What are you having?” Jared asks trying to decide on a bottle or a glass of wine with dinner.

“Surf and Turf, but not shrimp I’m having the scallops in the bacon wrap and a big baked potato.” He licks his lips following his finger down the wine list.

“Hum, sounds good but I want the shrimp scampi with mine and no potato give me the broccoli almandine. Now for the wine choice.” Jared bites his lower lip as he scans the page pushing it closer to Jensen to peruse.
Jensen stops on a nice dry red wine. “Merlot, that should be good with steak.” He says tapping his finger next to the words. “Sounds good to me, you know I love a good red wine.”

After eating the two huge dinners and drinking an entire bottle of wine between them Jared patted his belly. “I don’t think there is room in here for dessert.” He laughed as Christian came over to the table. “How was everything guys?”

“Everything was delicious Chris, Chad is brilliant.” Jensen says signaling to Chris to meet him in the back. “I’m so glad that you enjoyed everything, are you having dessert?”

“I doubt there is room in here.” Jensen laughs as he pats his belly. “Speaking of which, I’ll be back.” He touches Jared hand before getting up and walking away with Chris following after.

Jensen takes Chris to the side where Jared can’t see him. “Is everything set up?” He asks nervously. Chris laughs. “Jenny when you’re ready it’s set.” Chris puts his hand on Jensen’s shoulder reassuringly. “You think he’s going to say yes?” Jensen asks shakily. “If he doesn’t I’ll marry you, because damn, this is one romantic proposal. I can’t imagine anyone not saying yes to it, especially Jared. You two are made for each other.” Chris brushes over Jensen’s shoulder and then squeezes his arm. “Now go get him tiger.” He pats him on the back before walking into the kitchen and yelling. “Chop, Chop, it’s on, one bottle of bubbly to table 5, and cue those damned musicians on the music!”

Jensen straightened his suit coat before heading back out to the table.

Jared was fiddling with his iPhone. “I thought you fell in, was gonna text you and see if you needed any help.” He winked at him with a big smile and bit his lower lip. Jensen laughed. “Nope safe and sound.” He clears his throat nervously as the cello begins to cue up for a new song and his hands shake a little bit. “Jared, honey, I want to sing you something.” He touches Jared’s face. Jared knits his brow in confusion but smiles. “Okay, did you write a new song?” Jensen pats Jared’s hand before feeling to make sure the ring box was in his pocket. “No, I just want to sing you this song, you’ll know why, just listen to the lyrics.” With that he turns and steps up on stage.

The cello is softly drawing its notes as the guitar slowly strums a quiet rhythm. Jensen looks at the musicians and smiles. “On my mark, Le Vie en Rose.” He turns to the mic and clears his throat.
“Hello everyone.” He says into the mic his nerves getting the best of him. The room falls silent as all eyes fall on him. “I want to sing a very special song to the man I love and I hope when I’m done he’ll understand what I’m asking him.” Jared smiles and looks around the room before turning his attention back to Jensen.

He turns and lifts a finger to the musicians and the soft melody pulls from the strings, the melodic swooning of a love song slow and hypnotic. The short intro comes to life as Jensen’s voice pools deep, almost operatic with the first lines as he stares deep into Jared’s eyes the microphone tight in his fist he walks to the edge of the stage as he reaches in to put his fingers around the black velvet ring box as the song chimes earnestly through the speakers.

Hold me close and hold me fast
The magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose
When you kiss me heaven sighs
And though I close my eyes
I see La vie en rose
When you press me to your heart
I'm in a world apart
A world where roses bloom
And when you speak, angels sing from above
Everyday words seem to turn into love songs
Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be La vie en rose

Jared tears up, his hands shaking and he knows what Jensen is asking him but he wants to hear it from his lips, the actual words with his own lips not just the glorious innuendo of the song.

Jensen steps off the stage as he finishes the song on a long note, he takes Jared’s hand as he kneels down laying the microphone on the floor, the sound of the cello playing out the final chords of the melody and he takes the small ring box from his pocket, adjusts himself on one knee and opens the box as he asks, “Jared Tristan Padalecki, I love you with all of my heart and soul. Will you marry me?” His hands shake as Jared tears up his mouth quivering into a smile and he blurts out with loud enthusiasm. “Jensen Ross Ackles, Yes I will Marry you.”
Jared lurches forward throwing his arms around Jensen’s neck his tears flowing down his cheeks like rain and Jensen is caught off guard tilting backward bringing them both toppling to the floor as the room claps for Jared’s answer.

They’re laughing so hard that Jensen forgets he’s holding the ring in his hand but Jared notices and holds his hand over Jensen’s face while lying on top of him. Jensen obliges and puts the silver band on Jared’s left hand ring finger before pulling him in for a deep and loving kiss.
Chris comes over to help them up and congratulate them. “You sure made my opening night an entertainment success.” He laughs as he claps them both on the back before pulling them in for a hug.

“You think we could get the bubbly to go Chris, cause I think we are going to have dessert at home tonight.” Jensen says looking over at Jared. “Unless you’re too full for dessert?” he asks Jared. “There’s always room for dessert.” Jared says winking at Jensen a huge smile on his face as he reaches to pull Jensen in for another kiss.

Chris rolls his eyes and calls for an uncorked bottle of Champagne from the kitchen. The head waiter brings one out and hands it to Chris. “Now you two go home and celebrate, the meals on me tonight.” He says shoving the bottle into Jensen’s hand.

“Thanks man I owe you one, or two.” Jensen says squeezing Chris’s shoulder.

“You two get out of here before I kick you out for being indecent in a public place.” He laughs as they walk through the restaurant arms slung over each other, the bottle of Champagne held tight to Jensen’s side, the whole room clapping for them as they walk out the door.

They climb into the Limo when it pulls up, the paparazzi snapping picture after picture of them snuggling at the valet booth.

Jared stops before they pull away and lowers his window shoving his left hand out of it and yelling. “He asked and I said yes! Print that tomorrow People Magazine.” And with that the Limo pulled away the camera’s still flashing.

“Why did you do that?” Jensen asks as he nuzzles Jared’s neck.

“Because I love you and I don’t care who knows it now.” Jared nuzzles back his hand falling to Jensen’s thigh.

“Have I told you lately how much I love you?” Jensen says looking into Jared’s eyes.

“Only each and every day.” Jared says before leaning in and kissing Jensen on the mouth.

“Good because your going to have to get used to it, because it’s going to be each and every day for the rest of our lives Mr. Padackles.” Jensen laughs and Jared snickers at the combination of their names. “I think I could get used to that Mr. Ackalacki.” They laugh even harder at that combination before pressing their foreheads together and staring into each others eyes.

“Lets go home and celebrate.” Jared says running his hand behind Jensen’s head to pull him in for another kiss.

“Home driver and fast.” Jensen says to the limo driver.

“Yes sir.” He says in return before putting up the privacy window.
